My Weekend

Weekends are an almost non-existent entity to me. In my profession, we just don’t have the luxury of free weekends. Saturdays are entirely taken up by work and there are no two ways about it. I make futile efforts to keep my Sundays free, but again, that’s easier said than done.

Once in a blue moon, when I do get a Sunday to myself, I keep it just at that ? a day for me and me alone. Sometimes, I get my close group of friends to come over on a Saturday night for a good round of adda. But Sundays, I guard zealously.

I prefer to have a low-key, relaxed day just to get my bearings back. I read a little, I strum my guitar if I am in the mood and I watch movies big-time.

I have progressed beyond being the movie-buff to a collector, with age. I keep collecting films from all over the world. Usually I end up watching three or four films back-to-back ? somewhat of an overdose ? but I really don’t have time during my normal work week. My collection can be termed eclectic, but I try to catch up on the latest releases as well.

I may occasionally go out, though I strongly prefer to stay in. I like to spend some time with my family, but I am also a person who needs his own space and quite a bit of it actually. I need some alone-time. But I revel in that sense of being at home, in my element, calm and undisturbed by whatever is going on outside.
