I carry my work into most weekends and the rare ones I get to myself are absolutely about having fun. I work on Saturdays and usually there are stage shows and anchoring to be done on Sundays as well. I would not call myself a workaholic, but yes, I do love my job and giving up a day off is usually not a big deal for me. Also, the money keeps coming in, making this sacrifice slightly easier.
However, on the occasional Sunday that I get to myself, I let my shopaholic alter ego take over. I have a group of like-minded partners in crime. All we do, on the days we manage to meet up, is shop till we drop and then drag ourselves to a pizza parlour. And of course catching a movie, any movie, is mandatory. One of my favourite places to hang out with friends is at City Centre. We get to do absolutely everything we need to recharge our batteries there ? catch the latest flick, load up on junk food and yes, you guessed it, shop. I am a major clotheshorse and the only thing that surpasses my passion for clothes is my love for accessories. My weekend highs then come from extended retail therapy.
There are also those infrequent weekends devoted to the family ? my parents and occasionally, my younger brother, when he visits us from Pune. On these days, especially if I’ve just had a long bout at work, I just want to sleep and enjoy the ghar ka khana. Everything else takes a backseat. But by and large, my weekends are devoted to my friends. Hanging out with them is a stress-buster for me.
