What with shoots, events and sundry other projects keeping my busy around the clock, the concept of a free weekend is more or less alien to me. The same goes for my husband, who happens to belong to the entertainment business as well. That?s why, a free weekend, when the rare one comes along, becomes all the more precious to us, and usually is purely a family affair.

So, whether my husband has the day off or not, come a free Saturday or Sunday, it?s time for some family fun, with my son Ujaan and my parents, who occasionally drop in. I spend time reading with Ujaan, catching up on his studies and sometimes even watching a good film together. Given the hectic schedules and socialising I have to do throughout the week, I prefer staying at home and lazing around, instead of venturing out. I?m not much of a shopaholic anyway, and there are only so many places one can go to, so it?s not much of a loss really.

Weekends are also a time to indulge my love for music. My musical tastes run the entire gamut from Jagjit Singh and English pop to rock and Rabindrasangeet, and I find that listening to some great numbers relaxes me no end. As does reading, and I read just about anything I can lay my hands on. Few things, I feel, can beat the pleasure of curling up with a good book on a lazy weekend. In any case, Ujaan monopolises the television and the computer, so it?s a great way of whiling away the hours.
