My favourite holiday destination is the oft-forgotten Darjeeling. Yes, don’t be surprised. It does know how to cast its spell on tourists and I haven’t recovered from it ever since the first time I went, who knows how many years ago. I love the journey, particularly the drive across the sparkling Teesta and the last bit where the road twists and turns creating dangerous curves.

Darjeeling is a beautiful place. It always brings me close to nature, leaving me refreshed and rejuvenated after the grind of the city. Nature always serves as an artiste’s greatest inspiration and I’m no exception. I always make it a point to carry an acoustic guitar when I make a trip to Darj.

It’s a fun place especially for us musicians, since Darj has a thriving pub and gig culture. All the local musicians and bands are quite serious when it comes to their music and the evenings go by very fast. Another quaint place that leaves tourists charmed is the Mall area. Fortunately for me, my wife Chandrani shares my passion for the place.

In fact, we’ve just finished recording for our next album and will probably head to Darjeeling for a quick break if we can.
