Mini figurines of Bollywood actresses are the eye-catchers in this boutique — there’s Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Kareena Kapoor Khan perched on the niches on a wall, dressed in Nehaa’s designs. The tiny wax mannequins were made to order in Chennai. “From the very beginning, I knew I wanted to do something with dolls, since I loved dressing them up as a kid and I think that is where my love for clothes and designing began. I’ve had the idea of wax miniature mannequins of Bollywood stars for a long time now. Some day, I want to dress them in real life too,” said Nehaa.

“I did not train in fashion but was encouraged to start the store after my mom-in-law spotted my knack for design. Since my favourite colour is white, that is the colour which I like to work with the most. I also prefer everything hand-crafted, whether it is embroidery, prints or embellishments,” said

At Nehaa Jalan’s Fashion Boutique, personalised, hand-crafted fashion is the order of the day. Inaugurated on August 14, the 220sq ft design den’s selection ranges from hand-embroidered silk and georgette gowns to beachwear in pop colours alongside lehngas with ruffled sashes. All of it is designed, customised and created in a little workshop next to the boutique itself, in Kankurgachhi.
The eclectic variety is matched only by the unique idea of having miniature wax figurines of four Bollywood divas lined up on the boutique wall.
