In a trance with DJ Alex M.O.R.P.H at Capella

Capella at AltAir was packed with revellers on April 14 as German DJ and music producer Alex M.O.R.P.H took to the console for a night of trippy trance, peppered with a few commercial numbers. In the city for the fourth time, this was the first open-air gig for the DJ in Calcutta, and despite occasional spurs of rain and storm, the alfresco club saw a neat footfall, all set for a groovy Saturday night. t2 joined in.

Aakriti Singh, a student from Bhawanipur, attended the night as her parents are huge trance music fans. “Surprisingly, my parents were pretty interested and they wanted to check it out. For me, the combination of the food and the music really worked,” said the 21-year-old who went bold in monochrome checks. Brownie points for them fierce red puckers.
Shots and shooters in multiple flavours kept the revellers in high spirits. #SoTipsy
This PYT with her hands up, all lost in the vibe, screams out the ultimate #StateOfTrance!
“I am not exactly a trance fan but since Alex was in the city and he is a big name, I made it despite having work the next day. And I thank myself for it, because usually trance scenes happen in closed clubs but the open-air venue had a different vibe to it,” said Nitika Gurung, a cabin crew member who was in for a chill night with friends. t2 loves how she paired a simple LBD with an easy breezy printed shrug. Very summery!
“The city is always changing and it’s fun coming back. Trance is very dynamic, and it is always moving and merging,” said DJ Alex M.O.R.P.H, who kept the party peeps on their toes with his trippy set. Who are his music inspirations, we asked. “I have been following Asterix for a great deal of time and he is my favourite psy-trance hero. It would be a dream to collaborate with him. Vini Vici are great and we’re good friends. These people keep inspiring me, and it’s great to see such interesting work coming up,” he said.
