It is still not clear whether the cucumber is a fruit or vegetable, but it is a miracle. It is cheap, grows all the year, and is rich in every kind of nutrient: Vitamins A, C and Folic Acid, minerals magnesium, molybdenum, potassium and silica.
Cucumber is good for managing diabetes, lowering blood pressure, helps to prevent constipation, reduces
risk of kidney stones and is good for general body health, especially the skin. This magic fruit is as good inside, as it is outside of us.
Here’s a cucumber treatment for a glowing skin, says beautician Deepti
Mohinder, who runs Studio MeCHE in A.J.C. Bose Road. This treatment helps to nourish skin and remove dead skin and blackheads. Tan removal is instant. The cucumber treatment helps to soothe burns and reduce black or brown spots and dark circles.
It is suitable for normal to oily and acne-prone skin.
Step 1 – Prepare a cleanser mixing raw milk and cucumber juice.
You need to dip a cotton ball and just clean the skin. This opens your pores for further steps.
Step 2 – Prepare a scrub by mixing grated cucumber with oats, yoghurt, honey and lime juice. Apply and leave for 2-3 minutes. Massage and remove it with a wet tissue. This is a natural scrub and it’s not harsh for skin.
Step 3 – For the massage, different combinations are used for different skin types.
For normal to oily skin, mix aloe vera gel with mashed cucumber (in a mixer to make a fine paste). For dry skin,
replace gel with fresh cream.
Massage for a couple of minutes and you will see the difference.
Step 4 – For the pack, mix sandalwood powder with cucumber juice. If your skin is dry add some yoghurt. You can replace sandalwood with gram flour.
