Our fave section is this 3,500sq ft space that can pack in around 200 sports lovers. It wears a rugged look and has the feel of an abandoned warehouse. A 22ft-long bar will ensure you don’t have a hard time getting your drinks. The well-lit ceiling and the graffiti are the other highlights. There’s a smoking room, too, is decorated with vibrant old window shutters. Oh, and there’s a huge projector to broadcast live matches!

What do you call a person who doesn’t have birthdays but “levels up”? A gamer! Five Mad Men, the new “gastro play pub” in Sector V, is a paradise for gamers. The sprawling space is divided into two sections and offers gaming and live streaming of matches in a sporty ambience. Apart from bites and cocktails, there will be DJ music and live gigs to ensure you have a swell time.

So, why call it Five Mad Men? “The name perfectly justifies the people who own it. And we want to pass on our vibe to the people who come here. This is the ideal place for sports and games fanatics,” said Sayan Roy, who owns the place along with Amitava Bandyopadhyay, Ayan Das Gupta, Kanyaka Basu and Sourav Sinha.

This 1,000sq ft area is the first section you will come across once you enter. It can hold around 100 people, and is done up with wrought iron chairs, hanging bulbs and wall art. The Mad Wall (picture above) has a collection of colourful jerseys, skateboards, cards, bats, hockey sticks and more.

The games include pool table, air hockey, foosball, carrom, Xbox and darts.

Small bites and sips

No wonder the Red Card comes in a boot-shaped glass — you get a spicy kick with every sweet sip; made with pineapple and fresh lime juice, Tabasco, red and green chillies and jalapeno bits. Rs 255

Tomato juice + vodka + lime + pepper = Mad Angle. This cocktail tastes a lot like Bloody Mary but is slightly sweet and thick. Rs 455

The bite-sized Coin Luchi with Kosha Mangsho means you can relish the Calcutta fave luchi and mutton, minus the messiness. Rs 295

Crunchy and juicy sum up the Crispy Bacon Wrapped Prawns. We loved the hint of garlic butter and mint in the prawn. Rs 495
