“The leg press machine tones and strengthens the lower body, from the knee joint to the hip. Lift your upper body and the added weights with your legs while lying down on the machine. After a few rounds, you feel the burn!” said Arya Ghosh, fitness trainer at the gym.
“Battle ropes are great for your upper body, abs, back and glutes,” said Arya.

A burning pain in my right arm had woken me up. I did have a mini fight with my best friend, but did she sit on me? Gosh, I had no recollection. As I reached out for my phone, a wake-up ritual, I saw a message pop up — a neighbourhood gym was giving a super discount. And it all came back... the leg press, the sledge, the biceps curl machine... my trial workout at the fifth and the biggest outlet of Rush Fitness (SP Mukherjee Road)!
Spread over 16,000sq ft with 20 trainers, this gym would be a haven for the Dwayne Johnsons-in-the-making. Weights, cardio, spinning, Zumba, Tai chi, mixed martial arts — there’s a lot to explore. A cafe serving healthy,
low-calorie food is a bonus.
What: Rush Fitness Where: 163 SP Mukherjee Road, near Rabindra Sarobar metro station When: 6am to 10pm all days

You can either push or pull the sledge. The weight added to it varies from person to person. You have to push the sledge across 25m. The first few metres were a cakewalk, the last few steps were, well, excruciating!

“The bicep curl machine makes for strong arms. Choose the kilos you want to lift and pull the rod attached to weights towards yourself,” said Arya.
