I have a round face. My cheekbones are not visible. My nose is also rounded and I have a double-chin. How should I apply make-up to make my face look sharper? Please help.

By using face shading and highlighting techniques, you can manipulate how the light falls on your face to give the illusion that it’s either more or less defined. Remember that anywhere you shade will recede and spots you highlight will come forward. The colours suitable for shading contain brown pigments. For day-to-day though, its best not to go too heavy. Just stick to the basics and don’t get carried away. Some basic starter points: To add more definition use a matt shader under the cheekbones, blending all the way past the jaw, and the temples, blending out into the hairline. This will help to reduce the width from the sides of the face to the temples. To create length use hightlighter blended in a narrow strip down the centre of the face, blusher should be applied on the cheekbones from the apple up to the temples. Shader can also be applied under the chin to conceal a double chin and along sides of the nose to reduce a broad nose.

Tips: Use a soft contouring brush to make blending easier. Regularly check you are achieving a balanced effect. Foundation may also be used to change the shape of an area provided you use a foundation two or three shades darker than the natural skin colour and blend into the ordinary foundation with either a sponge or brush.
