Bacon bites at the Whistling Kettle

This cafe created a buzz when it opened a year-and-a-half ago for serving a variety of tea to Calcuttans. Now this Darjeeling-inspired cafe-cum-store has crafted a festival which will leave you drooling. With a total of 12 bacon-based dishes, The Whistling Kettle is all set to host a month-long bacon festival at their Golpark outlet.

Bacon Loaded Tomato Soup: This cold tomato soup is served with skewered bacon, that oozes fat in the soup to enhance the smoky flavour.  Rs 180
Barbeque Bacon Cube: These seasoned minced pork balls wrapped in charred bacon are truly delicious. The rich barbecue sauce makes this our top pick. Rs 680
Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Burger: There’s no patty needed for this one as the soft seeded bun is loaded with crisp bacon, lettuce, tomato, and creamy Cheddar cheese. The perfect comfort
food, we think. Rs 345
Bacon Cheese Lasagna: Offering a tasty twist to your usual lasagna — this dish has the lasagna sheets stuffed with minced pork and then wrapped with juicy, crispy bacon. The tasty outer layer is the true star of the dish as it gives a smoky flavour to the cheesy lasagna. Rs 620
Smokey Bacon and Tomato Pasta: Soft farfalle pasta is mixed with crunchy bacon bits and tomatoes, and then tossed in a rich white sauce. #FoodComa Rs 420

“The idea came from our desire to bring a piece of Darjeeling to Calcuttans. The people of Darjeeling have a strong attachment to their tea and their pork. So we wanted to offer something totally new for the meat-lovers of Calcutta right in our city,” said owners Bonisha Sharma and Sailesh Sarte.
