Basil Bonda: The good old Aloo Bonda gets the aroma of basil and the smoothness of cream cheese as it is served on top of a basil-and-cream cheese dip. You’ll love the fusion of flavours. Rs 180-plus

What: When Anna Met Alice
Where: The Chutney Co., 21 Hemanta Basu Sarani, opposite The Lalit Great Eastern
On till: June 30, noon to 9.30pm
Meal for two: Rs 700-plus

The Chutney Co. — a South Indian cafe in BBD Bag — turns three with a festival called ‘When Anna Met Alice’. “It’s basically an amalgamation of South Indian dishes with European flavours. Hence the name ‘When Anna Met Alice’. We’ve kept most dishes as it is, but tweaked their spices or batter mix with European elements,” said Pooja Baid, proprietor, The Chutney Co., a unit of Piccadilly Square. t2 walked in to check out the dishes.

Aglio Olio Idli: Idli strips are tossed in olive oil along with roasted garlic and basil, with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. You wouldn’t need any chutney to go with this starter. Rs 240-plus
Mushroom Doffale: The waffle’s South Indian cousin, the doffale, is basically dosa batter cooked in a waffle maker and served with a spicy mushroom kurma. Those who like it a little less spicy can go for the Avial Doffale. Rs 240-plus
Buttermilk Crumble: The humble chhaas meets gelato in this spicy ice cream that is served on top of a cheese cracker. Break the cracker and push the ice cream inside the container to get a creamy, crunchy dessert. We love the zing of the chillies and mint. Rs 130-plus
Madras Mezze: This is Anna’s version of a mezze platter. Fried pappadams are served with in-house hummus, curry leaf-flavoured tzatziki and fattoush. A good option to munch on while it pours outside. Rs 180-plus
