All this along with foot-tapping music by a live DJ in a sunlit and quirky ambience with plenty of fun decor elements. Sundays are fun days at The Fatty Bao’s latest offering — Fatty’s Merry Drunch.

t2 got the first taste of the happy brunch!
What: Fatty’s Merry Drunch
Where: The Fatty Bao, Camac Street
When: Every Sunday
Timings: Noon to 5pm
Meal for one: Rs 1,400-plus for food, Rs 2,200-plus for food and drinks, Rs 2,600 for food and premium drinks, Rs 700-plus for a child under 10
For the main course there are lots of curries, noodles and rice options. We chomped on Fish in Spicy Garlic Sauce, Garlic Fried Rice, Hot & Sour Veg Soup and Udon Noodles with Lamb in Black Pepper Sauce.
Get your fave sushi rolled right in front of your eyes at the live sushi counter. “That apart, there are plenty of dim sums to choose from at the live counter as well, or you could get them to your table in a dim sum trolley. The idea is to turn Sunday brunch into a fun and relaxed party,” said Avantika Saraogi, local partner, The Fatty Bao Kolkata.
From the Dorayaki (Japanese-style matcha pancakes), to the tangy Mango Tart, the rich Coco Caramel and the Passion Fruit Cheese Mousse, the dessert menu too has something to suit every palate. We binged on the fluffy pancakes that were smeared with rich chocolate and nuts.
Making the afternoons merrier are a wide range of sangrias. We loved the Call Me Rose (extreme left), a rose wine and watermelon-based refreshing sangria, as well as the Gari Fuzz (extreme right) that brings together the yumminess of peach with a warm aftertaste from ginger in white wine. Not a sangria fan? You can customise your cocktails.
Our faves in the small plates category are the Coconut Prawns with Spicy Curry Mayo (left) that had the apt balance of crunch and creaminess, as well as the Poached Chicken with Crispy Tortilla and Wasabi Cream, in which the flavour of the wasabi cream lingered on our tongue.
Embracing a wok-to-table approach and laden with experimental flavours are a wide range of small plates that include items such as Herbed Grilled Chicken Skewer with Spicy Butter and Lemon Sauce, Sambal Marinated Grilled Cottage Cheese wrapped in banana leaf, Spicy Corn & Mushroom with Crunchy Lettuce Cups, Chilli Mango, Tofu and Water Chestnut Wonton Cups and Steamed Tofu with Crispy Sesame Lentil. These will be served at your table and can be ordered unlimited.
