Three courses spanning three different cuisines, washed down with three kinds of whisky, at three different restaurants — and all this in the course of one dinner. Gourmet Getaways, an initiative by Global Kitchens and Diageo, gives one the option to have a whisky alongside a starter, a main-course dish and a dessert platter at The Irish House, Bombay Brasserie and Serafina, respectively, in Quest mall. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available.
“Usually when you go out to dine, you go to one restaurant. What we have tried to do is make an event where one gets to experience three different places and three different types of cuisines. That’s an experience in itself. We wanted the menu to be appetising but not too heavy so that one can try out all the places and relish the food with alcohol,” said Rajiv Singh, business head and general manager, Global Kitchens.

WE LOVED
Armagh Mushroom Bites and Skewed Cottage Cheese paired with Johnnie Ginger @ The Irish House:
This dish has toasted mini brioche buns stuffed with creamy mushroom sauce, topped with chives. It comes along with grilled spicy cottage cheese and baby corn with a dash of pineapple butter sauce. The creaminess of the mushroom sauce and the spicy cottage cheese packs a punch when paired with the refreshing Johnnie Ginger, made with Johnnie Walker Red Label, bitters, ginger ale and lots of ice.
Coast-to-Coast Chicken with Mixed Seed Roti paired with Johnnie Walker Black Label @ Bombay Brasserie:
Chicken cooked with a special 30-spice Malwani masala. Curry leaves and roasted coconut are added for extra flavour. When combined with roti (made of various seeds), it makes for a wholesome meal. The complex notes of the Johnnie Walker Black Label go well with it.
Tiramisu and Torta Di Cioccolato paired with Johnnie Walker Gold Label @ Serafina:
The dessert platter comes with the signature Tiramisu, a freshly baked chocolate cake and ice cream. The melt-in-your-mouth Tiramisu and the gooey chocolate cake served with the sweet and creamy Johnnie Walker Gold Label with an orange twist, brings a perfect end to the experience.
Actress Swastika Mukherjee, who dropped in with daughter Anwesha, found the concept of Gourmet Getaways impressive. “This whole idea where you have starters and drink at The Irish House, then move on to Bombay Brasserie for the main course and then dessert at Serafina is really cool,” said Swastika.
“The price point was something that we kept in mind since the idea is to keep this going on all Thursdays. Also, the pairing of whisky with each course had to work. The whisky had to balance the food,” said Brandon Toborg, reserve brand ambassador, Diageo.
(From right) If film-maker Satrajit Sen thought the concept was “unique”, it was the first time that footwear designer Rohan Arora was attending a Johnnie Walker “walk”. For designers Sayantan Sarkar and Abhishek Dutta, the pairing worked “beautifully” and was a “lovely experience”.
