New Delhi, March 28 :     Usha Shriram Furnitures (P) Ltd, part of the Charat Ram group, is currently talking to some European manufacturers for a joint venture to give a boost to its branded furniture business. ?We are ready to go in for an equity participation and we expect the joint venture to be finalised in the next six months or so,? said managing director Subodh Varma. He was, however, tightlipped about the names of foreign companies with which Usha is in talks. Usha Shriram Furnitures has been manufacturing and marketing furniture under the brand name Usha Lexus for the past few years and the company has a turnover of Rs 10 crore. With a joint venture in place, it hopes to post a turnover of Rs 50 crore in the next couple of years. The joint venture will also enable the company to invest further in increasing the number of production facilities. ?Production is the major constraint and we have to set up more manufacturing facilities,? said Varma. Currently, the company has five manufacturing facilities. In a bid to reduce distribution and real estate costs, Usha Lexus Furnitures will also sell its products through the Internet. ?Distribution costs will come down by at least 10-15 per cent by sales through the Internet,? said Varma. Usha Lexus furniture is available in seven showrooms. Another 10 showrooms will be added by next year-end.
