SpiceJet profit jumps

• NEW DELHI: SpiceJet has reported a robust 32 per cent jump in its third-quarter net profit at Rs 240 crore, propelled by higher passenger revenue, making it the 12th successive profitable quarter for the airline. This is the highest ever quarterly profit in the history of the airline, the company said. PTI

Cognizant loss

• NEW DELHI: US-based IT major Cognizant on Wednesday reported a net loss of $18 million for the December 2017 quarter, on account of a one-time provisional income tax expense of $617 million related to the Tax Reform Act in the US. PTI

Insolvency rules

• NEW DELHI: Insolvency resolution professionals will now be required to assess the fair value and liquidation value of the entity undergoing insolvency proceedings. PTI

Interest in GAIL

• NEW DELHI: Oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said IOC and BPCL were both keen to acquire gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd, which under the extant policy needs to be split by separating the gas transportation business from its marketing unit. PTI

Telecom policy

• NEW DELHI: The telecom ministry hopes to place the proposed New Telecom Policy before the cabinet for approval by April. The draft will be ready in the next 2-3 weeks and the department expects to seek cabinet nod in April, telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan said. PTI
