Calcutta, April 28: Raymond has forayed into the economy and the mass-market clothing segment with the launch of Makers.
Priced significantly lower than its earlier products, the Rs 3,000-crore diversified Raymond Group will now be retailing poly viscose fabrics.
Of the Rs 50,000-crore textile market, approximately Rs 6,000 crore caters to the low-price economy segment. Raymond has a 60 per cent market share in the poly wool segment with a 15 per cent share in poly viscose. In poly wool, the company plans to maintain a 10 per cent growth rate.
“We hope to rake in a share of 10-15 per cent in the economy segment by the end of the current financial year,” said Aniruddha Deshmukh, president (textiles) of Raymond.
Raymond will launch the brand in eastern India, which will also cover Uttar Pradesh (east) and Andhra Pradesh.
In Bengal, which contributes 60 per cent to the sales from the region, the brand will be available at leading retail outlets starting May 2011, and in 30 locations by the end of this year.
Makers will be retailed through multi-brand outlets only and not through Raymond shops.
