New Delhi, Sept. 12: Luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce will launch its two-door Phantom Coupe here in November.

The company will also introduce its new range of cars in India by 2010.

The launch of the two-door Phantom Coupe will be the fourth and final in the Phantom series. The car carries a price tag of around $400,000 in the international market. In India, it will attract an import duty of over 110 per cent and is likely to cost around Rs 3.75 crore.

“We will expand our portfolio. Work is in progress to develop our new family of cars. India will see one by mid-2010,” said Graeme Grieve, director (sales and marketing) of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

“The Phantom Coupe will be launched by October-end or November,” he said.

“The new fleet of cars will not compete with the Phantom range but it will be second most expensive in the world,” Grieve said. At present, the only car in India that is more expensive than the Phantom is DaimlerChrysler’s Maybach, priced at Rs 4.5-5 crore.

Rolls-Royce now sells three models in India —the Phantom Standard, Phantom with an extended wheel base and the two-door convertible Phantom Drophead Coupe — all priced between Rs 3.15 crore and Rs 3.5 crore.

The Phantom Coupe, which was unveiled at the Geneva motor show in March, was launched in the US and the UK in August.

The car will be launched in Asia during the October-November period.

Rolls-Royce, acquired by the BMW group in 1998, is developing the new range of cars at its facility in Goodwood, England.

The company, which re-entered India in 2005, has sold about 30 cars till now.

“We have already sold 12 cars this year. If we can sell 16 cars this year, we will be very happy,” said Matthew J. Bennett, general manager (south and east Asia Pacific) of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

After Mumbai, the company today inaugurated its second dealership in Delhi. Last year, Rolls-Royce sold 1,010 cars through 82 dealers across the world.

Sources said the company’s sales volume in countries such as India would grow once Rolls-Royce 4, the upcoming less-expensive model, is launched in 2010.
