Mumbai, April 11: Reliance Jio today announced a plan that offers its Prime members 1GB of 4G data per day for 84 days at Rs 309.
The Jio "Dhan Dhana Dhan" plan also gives the option to subscribers to pay Rs 509 to get daily 2GB of 4G data for 84 days. Both the offers come with unlimited domestic calling and SMS facilities.
The fresh scheme comes within a week of a Trai order asking Jio to withdraw its "Summer Surprise" plan which offered complimentary service for three months.
However, rival Airtel dubbed the new offer as a case of "old wine in a new bottle".
Airtel hoped that the "authority (Trai) will act against this provocative disregard of their direction".
"We are surprised to see what Jio is doing. It violates the spirit of the Trai directive and essentially continues with a similar plan now masquerading under a different name."
According to the Jio website, the offer is "limited to one recharge only and not available along with the Jio Summer Surprise offer". It is available for existing and new customers till further notice, Jio added. Benefits for the customer who subscribes to the plan will start from April 16.
A statement from Jio said customers who were unable to subscribe to Jio Prime can continue to do so by paying Rs 408 or Rs 608 (Jio Prime charge of Rs 99 plus the recharge price) to get these benefits. An individual has to be a Jio Prime customer to subscribe to these plans.
The company further clarified that a customer who has already subscribed to the Jio Summer Surprise scheme cannot go for the Dhan Dhana Dhan offer.
