Indian Bank deploys mobile ATM in Chennai

The ATM will cover five spots between 10am and 2pm

Amid the lockdown in the nation due to the coronavirus outbreak, Indian Bank is launching a mobile ATM service in Chennai.

The mobile ATM will cover five of the 10 stops identified each day for 30-40 minutes between 10am and 2pm, the bank said in a press release.

“The mobile van carrying the ATM will be moving around the city and remain in each place for a specific period. This will facilitate the public the convenience to withdraw money near their houses,” the statement said.

The bank said the decision was made due to the disruption caused by the pandemic, which is affecting the normal and routine life of the people. All the branches of Indian Bank are functioning to offer basic services to its customers, the statement said.

“As an extra mile and in order to serve the people who are at risk of travelling for withdrawal of cash, Indian Bank has taken initiative to deploy its mobile ATM,” it added.

The ATM will cover the following spots:

  • Washermanpet
  • Kilpauk medical college
  • Shashtri bhuvan Nungambakkam
  • Annanagar round turn
  • Annanagar Ayyappan temple
  • Shaligramam
  • Purusavakkam
  • SAF games village
  • Kodambakkam BSNL flats
  • Nelson Manikkam square

”The Indian Bank team is known for this resilience and focus on the customers. We are happy to serve people with a smile during these challenging times,” the statement read.

According to health ministry officials, the number of Covid-19 cases climbed to 979 in India on Sunday with the death toll rising to 25.
