New Delhi, June 2: Idea Cellular Ltd today announced the completion of its merger with Escotel.

Early this year, Escotel Mobile Communications Limited (EMCL) and Escorts Telecommunications Limited (ETL) were snapped up by Idea for about Rs 1,200 crore.

Even before the formal closure of the transaction, Idea has kickstarted the integration process in critical areas. This includes extension of state-of-the-art Intelligent Network-based prepaid system from Nokia/ Telecordia USA.

Vikram Mehmi, CEO of Idea Cellular Ltd, said: “Escotel subscribers would now become a part of the Idea advantage.”
