New Delhi, June 17: Nokia has bagged a major order from Hutchison India, estimated to be about $300-$400 million, for the supply of GSM equipment to nine of 13 licences held by the company. Nokia had recently signed a $275-million network expansion deal with Bharti.
Nokia and Hutchison India have concluded a new agreement for the supply of Nokia’s mobile switching and GSM radio network to meet the growing demand in India for high-quality mobile phone services. Supply of switching equipment for Bengal is also a part of the deal.
Hutchison India managing director Asim Ghosh said, “By consolidating our supplier agreements, we are determined to cost-effectively improve coverage and capacity in our present networks and smoothly roll out service in the new ones.”
“Nokia’s high-capacity radio networks and switching solutions are well suited for the job, and we are convinced that this deployment will benefit our customers,” he added.
