Hyderabad, Aug. 16: Pioneering the BPO concept in the pharmaceutical sector, Granules India, a Hyderabad based company, has positioned itself as a major vendor for global pharma majors by making formulations up to the final stage of tablet making.

Claiming that the company has the world’s largest commercial pharmaceutical formulation intermediates (PFI) plant, Granules India said it will enable global drug majors, facing competition from countries like India, to cut production expenditure by half.

Creating a niche for itself, Granules India will make directly compressible granules (DCs) and market the same to various generic market players as PFIs.

“Several bulk drugs are nowadays sold as plain commodities, where profit margins are shrinking,” C. Krishna Prasad, managing director of Granules India, said.
