Godrej Yummiez expands vegetarian portfolio, aims to achieve 30 per cent growth

The demand for frozen food has seen significant growth in the last two years driven by the Covid pandemic

Godrej Tyson Foods’ ready-to-cook brand Godrej Yummiez has reached a size of Rs 200 crore and is expected to grow upward of 30 per cent in 2022-23.

The demand for frozen food has seen significant growth in the last two years driven by the Covid pandemic and supported by the overall increase in the adoption of e-commerce.

Godrej Yummiez sells more than 50 vegetarian and non-vegetarian frozen products. The company has added more items.

“The frozen foods market is estimated to be around Rs 3,500 crore. The category witnessed accelerated growth during the pandemic and continues to grow even today,” said Abhay Parnerkar, CEO, Godrej Tysons Foods.

“The size of the veg segment is pegged to be about two third of the total frozen foods category. The expansion of our vegetarian portfolio with products like Godrej YummiezCrispy Potato Starz, PaneerPops and Mix Veggies will enable us to achieve a 30 per cent growth in FY23.” The company is expanding its distribution presence.

“We focus on three key channels — general trade, modern trade, and e-commerce. We have a distinct strategy to build our presence and expand our share in each of these channels.

“We also have a geographical strategy where in a considered manner we are expanding our distribution. We are present in about 60-plus cities and are have plans to expand distribution in more tier 2 and tier 3 cities,” said Parnerkar.
