Calcutta, Oct. 8: Gionee India has earmarked Rs 200 crore for national advertising spends for the two-month festive season that began in October this year. Of this, 30 per cent has been allocated for the east.
"East is an important market for us and so we need to focus a lot in this region," Arvind Vohra, managing director & CEO of Gionee India, told The Telegraph.
The company is looking at a 20 per cent growth in its offline sales during the festive season as the contribution of online is minimum. The mobile phone maker's sales stood at about Rs 570 crore in the October-November period last year. The eastern region contributed 15 -18 per cent of it.
With the onset of the festive season, Gionee India has also launched two products - the S6s and S6 Pro. "There are a few more launches that will come this quarter," said Vohra.
On the back of the new phones, the company expects to double its monthly sales to a million units and increase its average sale price to between Rs 9,500 and Rs 10,000 from Rs 8,000 at present.
"The market is growing and Gionee is also looking at increasing its market share from close to 5 per cent to 7-8 per cent this financial year which indicates that the revenues will increase and grow in multiples. Gionee plans to spend aggressively on its marketing and is looking at revenue of Rs 8,000 crore this fiscal," said Vohra.
Gionee had entered the Indian market in 2013 and has registered a turnover of Rs 3,250 crore by 2015-end. Online sales contribute only 2 per cent of the company's total revenue from the country.
