Fertilisers to cost less

The government will reduce the prices of key fertilisers such as diammonium phosphate (DAP), muriate of potash (MOP) and chemicals of nitrogen phosphate and potash composition (NPK).

Bangalore, July 2: The government will reduce the prices of key fertilisers such as diammonium phosphate (DAP), muriate of potash (MOP) and chemicals of nitrogen phosphate and potash composition (NPK).

"DAP, MOP and NPK fertiliser prices have never come down in the last 15 years and it was increasing. Now, the government has decided to reduce the price of all these threefertilisers by about Rs 4,000 per tonne," Union minister for chemicalsand fertilisers Ananth Kumar today said.

"DAP price will be reduced by a minimum of Rs2,000 per tonne. This means that we will be reducing the price by Rs 100-150 per 50 kg bag. MOP and NPK prices will bereduced by Rs 4,000 per tonne," Kumar added.

Wishing for good rains this year after drought in the last two years, Kumar assured the Modi government was working towards providing the best to farmers.

The minister further said neem-coated urea had ensured there was no shortage of urea across the country.
