Tax pacts on anvil

New Delhi, April 20: The cabinet has approved the signing of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements with three countries — Ethiopia, the Netherlands and Singapore — in a bid to bring back black money stashed abroad, sources said. The cabinet also decided on an empowered committee to identify technology and investors for setting up two semiconductor wafer fabrication facilities.

M&A norms

New Delhi, April 20: The finance ministry is likely to finalise the proposed changes in the takeover code on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) after a meeting with industry and other stakeholders tomorrow.

ONGC offer

Kalol (Gujarat), April 20: The follow-on offer of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd is likely to hit markets between June and July this year, a top official said here today.

Export case

Mumbai, April 20: The Centre cannot ban exports of any product with retrospective effect, Bombay High Court ruled today. It allowed Parag Milk Foods, which had filed a petition against such a ban, to go ahead with the export of milk powder, under a contract signed before the ban.

Retail FDI

New Delhi, April 20: The Centre is committed to come out with an FDI policy in retail but foreign investment must be linked with the development of back-end facilities.
