Coal block bidding

New Delhi, April 4: The coal ministry has issued draft guidelines for the allocation of coal blocks through competitive bidding to ensure transparency. The guidelines are on the lines of the National Exploration and Licencing Policy for oil and gas. The ministry has laid out a set of four options in the draft notice inviting offers. A common factor in all of them is giving priority to firms having presence in the same state of the coal mine.

New Delhi, April 4: Cairn Energy Plc will need to take the consent of partner ONGC before selling its majority stake in its Indian unit to Vedanta, oil secretary S. Sundareshan said today. The cabinet committee on economic affairs is likely to consider giving consent to Vedanta acquiring a majority stake in Cairn India.

New Delhi, April 4: The government has granted Reliance Haryana SEZ a year’s extension in validity of in-principle approval for the Jhajjar special economic zone against four years sought by the promoters.
