Bhasin: Role change

New Delhi, May 16: Pramod Bhasin will step down from his position of CEO and president of Genpact as well as cease to be a member of the BPO major’s board.

N.V. ‘Tiger’ Tyagarajan, Genpact’s chief operating officer, will replace Bhasin from tomorrow. Bhasin will become non-executive vice-chairman.

Some of the domestic IT and BPO firms, which are trying to attain pre-recession growth rates, have resorted to management rejig.

Earlier this month, Infosys — the country’s second largest software exporter — had announced K.V. Kamath as the new chairman to replace founder N.R. Narayana Murthy. S. Gopalakrishnan was appointed executive co-chairman and S.D. Shibulal the CEO and managing director with effect from August 21.

In January, the country’s third-largest software firm Wipro did away with its joint-CEO model and named T.K. Kurien as the new chief executive. In the same month, Ashok Soota, co-founder of IT company MindTree, resigned as the executive chairman to be replaced by Albert Hieronimus.

Recently, India’s fifth largest IT services firm Tech Mahindra implemented some top-level changes, including the appointment of Amitava Roy as the new chief operating officer.

According to analysts, while some players such as Infosys and Wipro are working on restructuring, others such as TCS, Cognizant and HCL are gaining from their stable management in the $70-billion IT services market.

Genpact board chairman Robert Scott said, “Tiger is a superb choice to lead Genpact to its next phase of growth and development.”
