New Delhi, Sept. 26: AMD today launched Windows-compatible 64-bit personal computer (PC) processor — AMD Athlon (tm) 64 FX — that promises to provide an enhanced experience for three dimension games and clarity of real time pictures.

Specifically designed for gamers, PC enthusiasts and digital content creators, the AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX processor is among the technically advanced and highest performing 32-bit and 64-bit PC processors in the world. Systems based on this processor enable a “cinematic computing” experience that is interactive and provides a new level of realism not available today except from DVD-quality films.

Country manager of AMD Far East Ltd (India) Sanjeev Keskar said, “The launch of the AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor is a significant milestone for both AMD and the computer industry. We are confident that the launch will enable us to address the needs of the commercial segment as business users will benefit from the ability to leverage their 32-bit installed base as they migrate to the power and security of 64-bit computing.”

HCL Infosystems, Wipro Infotech and Zenith are the launch partners of AMD's latest product. Gaming companies are ready to take advantage of the new capabilities.

PC manufacturer Hewlett-Packard plans to ship compatible systems in the fourth quarter of 2003. Fujitsu, Fujitsu-Siemens and Packard Bell have announced system availability for the AMD processor.
