It’s an exclusive heritage hotel that may be a bit out of your budget during peak tourist season. But now Devi Garh, the fort palace that is actually a spa retreat in Rajasthan’s Aravalli Hills, has an interesting (think affordable) offer. Located 28km northeast of Udaipur, this all-suite luxury resort is offering a special package price starting at Rs 6,875 per night (depending on whether you opt for the Garden or Palace suite), on a twin-sharing basis. The price includes airport transfers, early check-in and late check-out depending on availability, a dinner for two at the resort’s restaurant, and happy hours at the bar. There’s a 20 per cent off at the spa, on meals and non-alcoholic drinks. By the way, Serena Spa offers wellness therapies based on a combination of Ayurvedic and modern spa concepts, so just indulge yourself. Devi Garh’s far-from-the-madding crowd location doesn’t leave you with nothing to do. You can always take Yoga lessons (often on the fort’s ramparts), go trekking in the surrounding hills, take bicycle trips, besides, of course, learn how to fly a kite right there at the resort. There’s enough time to book yourself a holiday as the offer is valid up to September 30. For more details go to www.deviresorts.com.

Holiday hotspot

When it comes to holidaying, I cannot think of any other place than Maldives. I have been there many times and so it’s nothing new to me. Over the years, I have acquired the art of just doing nothing when I am on a holiday and that means no calls but plain relaxing. I am a complete beach person and relaxing on the beach with a book in hand is what I do. Maldives has great restaurants and also is a shopaholic’s delight. I love to collect knick-knacks when I am there. Besides Maldives, I love going to Goa at any time of the year. Goa has amazing food and great nightlife and of course the flea markets.
