Sixteen participants, two teams from each institute, fought it out at an inter-college debate for and against the topic "The flight of man causes the plight of nature" on August 27.
The education department of Patna Women's College organised the event.
Trainees of different BEd colleges in Patna, including St Xavier's College of Education, Women's Training College, Patna Training College, RPS Training College, Tapindu Institute of Higher Studies, Shivam Teachers' Training College and MS Institute of Education, took part in the debate. Social activist Rashmi Jain and former teacher of Mount Carmel High School Sutapa made up the jury.

The trainees expressed strong views on the topic and stunned the spectators. The rebuttal round was an icing on the cake and the students put up questions that made the audience ponder on the topic seriously.
Amit Kumar from Tapindu Institute of Higher Studies and Shweta Sinha from MS Institute of Higher Studies received the best speaker award in Hindi, while the same for the English round went to Anumeha from Patna Women's College and Sandeep Kumar, St Xavier's College of Education.
Head of the department Upasana Singh distributed the prizes to the winners. Anumeha, a trainee teacher, said: "The inter-college debate would help her to know where she stands. I did not care whether I lose or win, I only gave my cent per cent. A healthy debate would open up our mind and increased our thinking capacity."
Fond memories
Eighty former students of Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP), had an enjoyable time at an alumni meet organised on the institute's Mithapur campus on August 28.
CIMP director V. Mukunda Das and faculty members Ranjit, Shireesh and Bidhanesh were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Das announced that the institute would soon introduce a course on stress management as suggested by its alumni.
"Majority of our students are working in the state and contributing to its development. All of you have been a pillar of strength in making CIMP a great place to learn and I am extremely proud to say that CIMP stands out as one of the best B-schools in our country today," said Das, while addressing the former students.
Alumni from the foundation batch shared their experiences of studying on the campus. They also shared the memorable moments in the classroom with the current batch and faculty members later in the programme.
Swati, a student of the 2010-12 batch of the institute, said she was delighted to visit the institution's new campus. "Faculty members like late professor Saji Nair have contributed a lot for the development of the institute. Nair Sir was very popular among us," added Swati.

Project pride
Two faculty members of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) have grabbed a project worth Rs 27 lakh, adding another feather in its cap.
Rajesh Kumar Ranjan and Prashant, both assistant professors in the Centre of Environmental Sciences department of CUSB, have received a research project from the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
Ranjan said both the faculty members would work on project on distribution of uranium in groundwater of five districts of the state, including Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur and Rohtas. "The data gathered from the project will be part of the National Data Base on Uranium," added Dr Ranjan.
Divulging more details, Prashant said: "The data received from the project will be helpful in evaluating the intake of uranium by people residing in the area. This will be the first-of-its-kind research in the state."
Prashant said the institution had already initiated the recruitment process for hiring a junior research fellow for the upcoming project.
Test for teachers
Trainee teachers from the 28th batch (2015-2017) of the BEd second year of St Xavier's College of Education, Patna, were sent out to the field on August 24 for 16-week practice teaching.
The prospective teachers were divided into groups and sent to different government and non-government schools associated with the college for practice teaching and internship.
The associated schools are St Xavier's High School, St Michael's High School, Loyola High School, Don Bosco Academy, Bankipore Higher Secondary Girls' School, Hartmann Girls' High School, Sri Chand Middle and High School, St Paul's High School, DAV High School and Rajkiya Kanya Dwadashi Vidyalaya, St Mary's Academy and Baldeva Secondary School.
"It is my first-hand teaching experience. During the practice teaching and internship, thefaculty members of the college are assisting and guiding us in every possible way. They also help to plan out the daily teaching schedule," said Sakshi, a second-year teacher trainee.
During the practice teaching period, the college principal Father Thomas Perumalil paid a visit to all the schools and took stock of the progress and feedback from the principals and the school faculty.
"It has been decided that every trainee has to take one class daily and take active part in the school activities," said the principal.
