
Patna: Two central ministers are coming to Patna for the inaugural function of the concluding events of Prakash Utsav, the 350th birth anniversary of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh.
Union minister of state for drinking water and satiation S.S. Ahluwalia and Union minister of state for housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri will attend the inaugural function at the Durbar Hall of the tent city set up along the Bypass.
"The Durbar hall has specially been decked up and a special programme of prayer and recital of Gurbani would be the main attraction," said tourism minister Pramod Kumar, who will attend the event along with chief minister Nitish Kumar and deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi.
The foundation stone of the Prakash Punj project will also be laid at the event.
The project, for which the Centre has sanctioned Rs 50.88 crore, entails setting up a theme park, two exhibition halls, auditorium, two ornamental bow columns, and four commemorative gates in the names of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, and other amenities on a 10-acre plot in the Patna Sahib area.
A coffee table book on the Guru Circuit, which entails development of sites important for Sikhs, and the Hindi edition of a book on Guru Gobind Singh's life will also be released on Saturday.
"A request has been sent to the office of Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu for being the chief guest at the concluding function on December 25 but no reply has been received till now," said a state government source.
Around 5 lakh devotees are expected to visit Patna from December 23 to25 to take part in the festival and elaborate arrangements have been made.
The local administration has made arrangements for the stay of the devotees at several venues including two tent cities. Special buses have been deployed and security arrangements made.
