The vigilance department of the state government has proposed setting up of an exclusive court on the pattern of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to dispose of cases of corruption against public servants on a priority basis.

The court would deal with cases filed by the two anti-corruption wings of the state government — the vigilance investigation bureau and the special vigilance unit only. There are six special vigilance courts, two each in Patna, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur, to hear the corruption cases .

Vigilance department principal secretary S.K. Negi said the proposal was under consideration of the government. “The department feels a need for an exclusive court in the wake of rise in corruption cases against public servants in the past few years,” he said.
