Patna, March 21: The state cabinet today gave its nod to a proposal to amend the Aryabhatta Knowledge University Act, 2008 for creating posts of pro-vice-chancellor and financial advisor in the varsity.

Besides, it approved an amendment to the Stamp Act, taking away the power of registrars to refer the matter to the district magistrates (DMs) in the event of dispute in deciding the market value of a property, a top government source said. It gave its nod to amend the Section 46 of the act, which empowers registrars to refer the matter to DMs.

The cabinet also empowered the government to nominate the office-bearers of Jain Shwetambar Hindu Nyas Board, election to which has not been conducted for the past four years.

The source said the cabinet also discussed the Private University Bill but could not give its nod to it because of some intricacies.
