Patna, Oct. 16: Students of vocational courses at Patna University (PU) could soon find an easy entry into the job market. The varsity will soon have a placement cell for job-oriented courses.
Students would also be trained in soft skills so that they are better placed to impress recruiters. The cell will be operational by the end of this year.
PU vice-chancellor (VC) Shambhu Nath Singh told The Telegraph: “We will start a placement cell at the university for students of vocational courses soon.”
At present, PU offers around 80 vocational courses.
The VC said students usually opt for these courses to get jobs as soon as they pass out. “If they get a job while studying, it will be a great relief for them,” he said.
Students are upbeat about the proposed cell.
Pooja Jha, a final-year postgraduate music student, said: “It is great news for students like us. We are hopeful that the placement cell will help us by providing more opportunities.”
Singh also said students would be trained in soft skills so that they could present themselves better in front of recruiters.
“We are trying to find an agency that would train the students in skills required to present themselves well before recruiters,” said Singh.
“Such training is essential as students often do not know how to present themselves before an interview board. If they are trained properly, they will have a better chance of getting a job,” he added.
