US consul-general in Calcutta Craig L Hall (seated right) watches a presentation by spoken English students of American Corner on the culture and history of Bihar on Tuesday. On his maiden visit to the state, Craig visited American Corner, run by the US embassy on the Indian Institute of Business Management campus in the city. Craig interacted with the spoken English students for a few minutes during which the boys and girls told the consul-general about various aspects of the state, including its traditional dishes such as litti-chokha, khaja, anarsa and tilkut. They also told Craig about Vaishali, the world's first republic. Appreciating the students' presentation, Craig expressed his wish to revisit Bihar. Later in the day, Craig visited Asian Development Research Institute where he interacted with member-secretary Shaibal Gupta and faculty members of the institute on economic and political issues of the state.
