Patna: The Rohtas district mining official has put the onus on disappearance of impounded vehicles carrying sand on the inspector-cum-station house officer (SHO) of Dehri town police station in Rohtas and requested the latter to initiate action against offenders.
In a letter to the Dehri-town police SHO, district mining officer Dharameer Kumar said 10 personnel of the special auxiliary police force and five home guard jawans were deployed to keep an eye on 50 overloaded trucks that were seized by a joint team of the transport department and the mines and geology department on February 22.
Security forces at Jamuar police camp were shifted to Dehri police station on the Rohtas SP's order, soon after the operation and lodging of FIRs against errant truck owners.
While the FIRs were lodged by the mines and geology department, the seizure list was made by the transport department.
To buttress his point, Dharamveer cited the letter issued by the assistant director of mining and geology on February 22. "It's is wrong to say that the security personnel provided to the mining department were assigned to look after the exhibits," the district mining officer claimed.
Dehri town SHO Dharmendra Kumar, however, rubbished the claim of the mining department official and said that no such instruction was issued to the police station concerned. Notably, the overloaded truck were seized from the national highway-2 during a special drive on February 22 this year.
All the impounded vehicles parked beside the Grand Trunk Road disappeared recently, causing a huge loss to the state exchequor.
