Gaya, Feb. 23: Old power transformers in Gaya could prove to be dangerous.
On February 7, one Mohammad Jaheer Khan sustained burn injuries because of a transformer burst near Peer Mansoor mosque on GB road. Six months back, a transformer exploded at Swarajpuri Road and oil spilled onto five passers by. Near Mahavir Sthan, another transformer exploded hurting three.
Bihar State Electricity Board, Magadh area, general manager Om Prakash said age was not the reason behind the explosion of the transformer.
Around 632 transformers are installed in Gaya of which 90 per cent are more than 15 years old.
