Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) would conduct a short-term training programme for teachers imparting legal education.

The law cradle, in association with Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training in Thiruvananthapuram, would conduct the six-day training programme from December 3.

Thirty teachers from across the country would participate in the programme. Its theme is “Postgraduate legal education and legal research agenda for the future”.

N.R. Madhava Menon, the founder of Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training, would be the main speaker.

CNLU registrar S.P. Singh said: “The law teachers will be trained on legal research and new topics.”

Topics like cyber and disaster management laws are new to both the students and teachers. Singh said: “Banks, hotels, airlines, telecom companies, police departments and government agencies face Internet fraud. Experts will discuss various types of cyber crime.”

Another emerging section is related to disaster management. “Though many laws have been introduced related to disaster management, the law students and teachers don’t know much about them. The experts will apprise the participants on such laws at the programme,” Singh said.

Rakesh Verma, the principal of Patna Law College, said: “The basic of Indian legal education are the Constitution, Indian Penal Code and jurisprudence. Many new topics like cyber law and disaster management law have been included in the syllabi now. Such programmes will help the teachers learn about these laws.”
