Bhagalpur, March 11: The Bhagalpur-Ajmer Sharif Weekly Express (13423/13424) will start operating from March 15. The railway had last month announced its decision to start the weekly express.
Residents of Chandan in Banka district will also have a first-time rail link to Jasidih in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district. Banka MP Putul Kumari is scheduled to flag off the train from Chandan railway station on March 15.
Jagannath Prasad, assistant commercial manager, Malda division, said the Bhagalpur-Ajmer Sharif Express will be flagged off from the Bhagalpur railway station on March 15 at 1.05pm. The train would reach Ajmer the next day at 12.50pm.
The reservation counter for the train opened on Saturday and 15 tickets were booked. “BJP MP Shahnawaz Hussain will be one of the passengers to travel on the train’s inaugural journey to Ajmer Sharif. A ticket has been booked in his name,” Prasad said.
