Hajipur, July 21: Chairman of Railway Board (CRB) Vinay Mittal today accepted that punctuality of trains in the East Central Railway (ECR) region is not as good as other divisions of the Indian Railways.

Mittal expressed his opinion while attending a high-level safety meeting at the ECR headquarter here today, along with senior officials of the ECR and the North Eastern Railway (NER). When asked about the reason behind trains getting delayed after reaching Danapur station, Mittal said: “The situation has improved. The punctuality of trains earlier in the Danapur division used to be 30 per cent but now it has improved to 50 per cent. The railway is working on it and soon we will come up with concrete solutions.”

He added: “Frequent cases of chain pulling on this division is also one of the reasons behind the delay. It is a social problem and passengers must act like responsible citizens and stop pulling chains at stations where it is not supposed to halt.”
