Darbhanga: East Central Railway (ECR) has decided to stop pasting reservation charts on train coaches as part of a go-green policy.

The Darbhanga Junction authorities have said with a view to follow the railway ministry's go-green policy and check the misuse of paper and manpower, physical reservation charts will not be pasted on train coaches any more.

The railway station authorities added that passengers whose tickets are on the waiting list or are confirmed, including last-minute confirmation, have receiving the status message through SMS about seating arrangements. So, there will not be any difficulty in identifying the coaches.

Rituranjan Shrivastava, a passenger of Pawan Express, said the initiative was a boon for passengers who run their index finger on reservation charts to check seat numbers. "This service will certainly help rid last-minute haste outside the coach entrance."

The railway station affirmed that passengers can check information about their respective coaches and berth numbers near the enquiry at the station as a display board has been installed. The passengers can confirm information with travelling ticket examiners.

A senior citizen travelling on Swatantrata Senani Express, Indra Kant Jha, said: "It is easy to look for the seat in a chart. I am not computer-savvy like several others."

But ECR's Samastipur division, senior divisional commercial manager Birendra Kumar told The Telegraph that the physical reservation charts won't be pasted on coaches owing to security reasons.
