Patna, Jan. 11: Smart work is key to better productivity. This was a piece of advice that experts today gave to Notre Dame Academy students.

The institution’s Parents’ and Teachers’ Association organised a talk for the students of classes IX and X to reduce the pressure of studies. Members of the Patna chapter of National HRD Network, Manoj Kumar Sinha and Atul Priyadarshi, advised the girls on time and stress management, respectively.

Sinha, the secretary of National HRD Network, Patna, said: “Eighty per cent results can be achieved with 20 per cent work if a person works in a smart way.”

Citing author Stephen Covey’s quadrant concept, Sinha said: “Only 10 per cent students spend time on important, but not urgent, work when this is the key to balance time. Most students while away time on social networking sites and phones (unimportant but urgent work) or sit idle (unimportant work). It is important to adopt each principle to achieve a balance.”

Treasurer of National HRD Network, Patna, Priyadarshi said students should stop procrastinating, as it leads to more stress later, for better results. “Sharing problems with others, proper sleep and diet and humour are crucial for managing stress,” he said.

National HRD Network is an association of professionals committed to developing human resource development.
