Three children drowned on Friday morning while taking bath in Budhi Gandak river near Akharaghat under Town police station.

Police said five boys, aged around 10 years, went for a bath in the river. Three of them, identified as Anshu (8), Rohit (9) and Sonu (9), swam towards the middle of the river and drowned in deep water. The two others swam to the banks and raised an alarm.

The bodies were later recovered and sent to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. B.P. Mandal, an inspector of Town police station, said a case had been lodged.
