The principal of Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT) is apparently facing a threat to his life from a teacher and a student.

This is more bad news for the institute, shut down indefinitely since February 7, after violenced rocked the campus on February 6.

Barhampura police have lodged an FIR against 90 students involved in the violence in which 13 were injured. Police got all five boys’ hostels and a girls’ hostel vacated apprehending trouble. Students belonging to a Scheduled Caste have petitioned the Bihar State Scheduled Caste Commission to conduct a probe into the excesses meted out to them by other students.

Senior superintendent of police Saurav Kumar said he has directed the deputy superintendent of police (city) A.K. Singh to ensure immediate arrest of the accused.

MIT principal Anjani Kumar Nathani is allegedly facing a threat perception from a former assistant teacher, Vibhuti Vimlesh Ranjan, and a student, Surendra Paswan. Police have lodged a named FIR against both under sections 415, 31, 323, 448, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

On Saturday, Nathani removed registrar B.K. Arya from his post after serving him showcause notices for allegedly hobnobbing with the disgruntled students of MIT and indulging in unethical practices.
