The National Institute of Technology, Patna, would get a full-time registrar after seven years.
A senior officer with Calcutta Mint K.K. Tiwari, who holds a mechanical engineering degree from Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI), Kanpur, would take charge as the registrar by mid-July. HBTI is an autonomous engineering college under Gautam Buddha Technical University.
“The NIT-Patna administration, along with the board of governors and the Union government representatives, approved the selection of Tiwari as the new registrar last month,” NIT-Patna director Asok De said.
Tiwari would replace ad hoc registrar Vidyasagar, who was in the chair for more than seven years. Tiwari, at present, is the director of NIIT-Mumbai. It is expected that with the appointment of Tiwari the administrative work would get streamlined.
“There are financial problems that an ad hoc registrar or in-charge director cannot solve. With the appointment of a regular registrar, there would be no such hiccups in implementing the administrative and the financial policies,” a teacher with the institute said. The director said apart from the appointment in the administrative field, recruitment of teachers is at a final stage.
