Tata boys best orators - Students wage war against corruption in debate

Patna, Sept. 14: Students from Jamshedpur schools won most awards at the inter-school regional debate competition, organised on the premises of Don Bosco Academy today.

Dipanjan Raychoudhary of Loyla, Jamshedpur got the first prize and Sandipan Sen of the same school stood second in the senior category. Debdeep Chattoraj of Little Flower school, Jamshedpur, got first prize while Paritosh Singh of Mount Assisi, Bhagalpur, got the second prize in the junior category.

Students from Don Bosco Academy (Patna), Loyla (Jam-shedpur), St Xavier’s (Ranchi), St. Xavier’s (Sahibganj), St. Thomas (Ranchi), Mount Assisi (Bhagalpur), St. Josephs Convent (Patna), Little Flower (Jamshedpur) and St. Francis school (Deogarh) participated in the competition.

While the junior group of students debated on the topic, “in public life, corruption is synonymous to success”, the senior group (class XI and XII) expressed their views on whether “public-private partnership is necessary to revitalise education”.

Participants with their thought-provoking speech impressed not just the audience but also the jury.

“Is this the India what Gandhi had dreamt of? We Indians are still in the clutches of corruption. Incredible India!” said Paritosh as he concluded his speech.

At the competition, two participants had to form a team where one had to speak in favour of the motion and the other against it. Al participants were given five minutes to finish their speech. They were adjudged on the basis of their diction, delivery, manner and language.
