Hear the answers on television on Friday night, when Amitabh Bachan fields these questions to Super 30 founder Anand Kumar in the TV quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. We are withholding the answers to keep the suspense alive till 9pm on September 8.
The ninth season of the popular game show is being telecast on Sony TV these days. In Friday's episode, Anand will go on to win Rs 25 lakh, money that would be of great use to his students.
Super 30 was launched in 2002 to coach 30 meritorious students from weaker sections of society free of cost every year for the IIT entrance exam. Free guidance apart, the students also get free food and lodging while preparing for one of the toughest entrance examinations of the country.
In the past 15 years, Super 30 has sent over 400 students to various IITs.
"There have been times when some of my students, who cleared the IIT entrance exam, didn't have the money to get themselves registered," Anand told The Telegraph on Thursday.
"We then mobilised help for such students through different sources. The money won at KBC would help me help such students."
Sharing details about the process through which he got a chance to share the stage at KBC with Bachchan, Anand said he got a call from team KBC around a month back and ace quizmaster Siddharth Basu, who produces the show, too spoke to him inviting him to be part of the show.
Shashi Shekhar, who is part of the KBC production team and hails from Bihar, also spoke to Anand and urged him to take part in the show.
"Almost 10 days after the call, during which I gave my consent, a team from KBC came to my house in Patna and provided special coaching to Super 30 students and made a small film on our initiative," Anand said.
"They spoke to my mother, Jayanti Devi, wife Ritu Rashmi and brother Pra-nav Kumar. They also asked questions from some of my existing students."
The quiz episode that will be aired was shot a fortnight ago, Anand said.
Even though Anand was an invited participant for the special episode, KBC's organisers ensured he too had to answer questions asked during the show correctly. The questions were of the same standard as asked of general contestants. There were points at which this celebrity teacher from Bihar got confused and had to use his lifeline for getting the correct answer.
Some of my former students like Anirudh Sinha and Anup Kumar helped me give correct answers, leading to the cash reward.
"Amitabh sir was about to bowl a question, answering which correctly would have fetched me Rs 50 lakh, but the hooter blew and the show was over," Anand said.
Anand was all praise for Amitabh Bachchan and said that he made him feel comfortable by engaging him in an informal chat before commencement of the quiz programme.
Anand has had the privilege of meeting Bachchan on two occasions in the past as well. They had first met during the shooting of the Hindi film Aarakshan, in which Bachchan had played the role of a mathematics teacher.
It was being shot in Mumbai and Anand was invited to exhibit his teaching style, to be replicated in the movie.
When Bachchan had come to Patna to promote the film in 2011, he had invited Anand to meet him on the stage from where he was promoting the movie.
