The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) would make its "online-only" debut this year without any age bar.
The CLAT 2015 entrance examination would be held on May 10. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow, would conduct it.
Students of 16 national law institutes across the country would be selected through the test. The results would be declared on May 20.
The two-hour CLAT examination would start at 3pm. The aspirants would have to answer objective questions in the test.
The 200-mark paper would consist of five sections - English (40), general knowledge and general awareness (50), mathematics (20), legal aptitude (50) and logical reasoning (40). The students would have to click on the correct answers online.
Hailing the "online-only" format of the exam, DAV-BSEB student Anshuman Prasad said: "It will be easy for the aspirants to take the examination this year because they will just have to click on the correct answers instead of darkening the circles with pencils on OMR sheets."
Last year, aspirants could take CLAT online as well as offline (written). The age limit for taking the test in 2014 was 20. This year, there is no age bar for appearing in CLAT. Complying with the orders of Allahabad High Court and Rajasthan High Court, the national law universities would admit undergraduate students irrespective of age if they clear CLAT.
As the examination will be conducted online, the participating law universities, including Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), have started preparations for conducting the test. S.P. Singh, the registrar of CNLU, said: "This year, the two test centres are Acme Institute of Information Technology (Sri Krishnapuri) and Uno Digital Pvt. Ltd (near P&M mall). The exam would not be conducted at CNLU and Patna Science College this year."
The two test centres this year are Internet service providers for CLAT 2015 in Bihar. Acme Institute of Information Technology (Sri Krishnapuri) was selected as the centre after the CNLU administration objected to Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), Bihta, for its distance from Patna. NSIT is 40km away from the city.
Last year, around 1,200 students had appeared in the test from the Bihar region. The number of examinees has gone up by 600 this year. Around 1,885 students would be appearing in the CLAT examination from the Bihar region on May 10.
The overall number of aspirants has also soared from the previous year's around 33,000. The figure is expected to cross the 40,000-mark.
